NAS [Network Attached Storage]
Is anybody here using a NAS at home? I'm asking as I'm looking in to affording myself one in the nearby future since my hard drives are starting to get filled up..
I've mailed a store (the one where I bought my pc components) that sells quite a lot, incl. pc components and NAS with/out drives, so I'll definitely post an update if it's worth it.
So far I firstly asked what the best would be, to build one myself from an empty PC case or get an actual NAS.
They say it's sparing (concerning electricity and such) if you get an actual NAS together with the possibility of swapping drives, but for a lower price overal a 'homebuild NAS' would be better, yet you won't be able to swap drives.
So far I've decided to actually buy a NAS, but I'm not looking to get a small NAS for now and another one in the future, so I'm looking into an actual NAS that has a good 10 TB or more in size so I can go on for a while
Has to be a good one for the storage of movies/series and possibly also music.

Re: NAS [Network Attached Storage]
For the people who're interested in it, I haven't got another reply from the store yet, though after searching around I already am pretty sure that I'm definitely not putting a NAS together myself, but I'm buying one. Preferably one with more than 10 TB to make sure I don't have to get some new storage in a year.
So far, this is my current choice though I asked the store if they could recommend me some to see what they say;
My Cloud EX4 16TB
My Cloud EX4 is a high-performance, four-bay NAS for your home or small office.
Ideal for Prosumers, Creative professionals, Small office - home office.
Capacity - 0 TB, 8 TB, 12 TB, 16 TB
2.0 GHz processor, Gigabit Ethernet, 2x USB 3.0 expansion port for expandable storage, Mac and PC compatible, DLNA 1.5 & UPnP certified for media streaming, free apps for anywhere access, automatic backup, secure file sharing with unlimited users, easy drive install & hot swap, dual Ethernet and power ports, LCD display, RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 supported, JBOD and spanning modes, serving options; File server, FTP server, Backup server, P2P download.
Most probably, when I have a reply from the store, I'll ask if this drive comes with the 16 TB included or not, if not, I'll ask if they can order the hard drives so I've got 16 TB

Re: NAS [Network Attached Storage]
Hahah I'm not going to lie mate, it's a lot of money... I hate paying that much for this, I'm honest, but I really do need it as I can't just keep buying External hard drives.. This would be way easier since I could use my laptop + more PC's with it too.. So that's why I'll probably buy it really soon
The one that I'm interested in will come for the price of 970 euro..

Re: NAS [Network Attached Storage]
Small update..
I just ordered that one
I contacted the store on Live chat with a quick question to be sure that it would come with the full 16 TB and not just 1x 4TB drive. I ordered it and instantly payed for it, hope to receive it soon!

Going to be useful though, this one is really good, has lots of options and it would be a nice addition!
Hope to have it in my room next week

Re: NAS [Network Attached Storage]
good. give them to Ultra, he will store them in his NAS. Make sure your song comes with hundreds of MBs of ads before he gets to the actual song

Am currently filling it up.. Takes a looong time

I think should move it onto your desk instead of on top of your rig.
would look tidier elsewhere

Re: NAS [Network Attached Storage]
Nah.. I actually prefer this spot right now
When someone accesses it to watch movies/series, I can see it on the leds of the drives flashing. This helps so I don't do stuff that can scramble the drive while my mom would be watching a movie or such
Am actually pretty impressed, I can install some useful applications on it.. I now use my NAS to download torrents towards it automatically, every night between 1 and 6 :)Fun thing is that my PC can be turned off but it'll still download, so that's a nice addition! But nonetheless my PC'll still be on most probably..
Here's a list of what I currently put in
Just a tip.. Just right click the image and 'watch image' or whatever function your browser gives you.. The forum makes it so fucked up huge D:
